Show Racism the Red Card –project has been an essential part of FIMU’s activities since 2003.
The idea of the project started in the UK where Show Racism the Red Card –organization was founded in 1996. The goal has been to fight against racism through sports and physical education. Famous footballers have been recruited as messengers of the campaign focusing particularly on the youth. The original idea has spread and developed over the years into an international campaign not just within football but within other sports - in Finland Basketball, Volleyball and Handball just to name a few.
In Finland the campaign is coordinated by FIMU and it is financed by the Ministry of Culture and Education.
The project is in close cooperation with Football Players’ Association (JPY). Red card has been showed against racism in sports in Finland since 2003. In Finland the campaign is coordinated by FIMU and it is financed by the Ministry of Culture and Education, current period being until 2020.
